Final reflective Paper Term Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words
Final reflective - Term Paper Example The film itself is for the most part always in reflection. These reflections are most often not varying shades of gray, but in contrasting dark and light, black and white. From a technical standpoint, lighting in the film tells a story all its own that the director has certainly intended. By his use of light or white to represent the good and higher principles, and his implementation of shadows and darkness to represent the more nefarious ideations in the movies, Welles rummages around in our psyches to evince a reaction to the scenes before word one is spoken. We are certainly instinctively programmed to trust the light, because you can see more, and distrust the mysterious darkness. Welles uses this as his own commentary on his characters as well as social commentary and the greater society. It is also interesting to think how Welles would have done this movie if color filmmaking were more in vogue. Also interesting that Welles, seeing the world through absolutes of black and white , also parallels this with newsprint and running a newspaper where stores are all there in black and white. Again this also represents the search for knowledge. It is interesting to note the progression of light and darkness in Kane as the movie progresses as well. The movie begins, as many good tales do, at the end. Kane murmering those famous words, Rosebud and dropping the snow globe. He is in the darkest of rooms, you canââ¬â¢t even see him, the snow globe however is well lit. When we see Charlie as a child he is in the whites and brightest of scene, virgin snow. As he progresses scenes alternate between light and dark depending on the event, but overall the brightness tends to recede and Kaneââ¬â¢s character becomes darker as he is more stained by the realties of life. There is certainly also an element of realism, a documentary

Essay --
Can political parties adequately perform their functions within the British political system now that their memberships are so small? Within the British political system, there are three dominant political parties, Labour, Conservatives and Liberal Democrats. These political parties have become a vital part in carrying out the main functions of government. There are several factors, which can hinder political parties from performing their functions adequately. In this essay I will be focusing on the recent decline in party membership and the effects it has had on each of the functions. I will be discussing why they donââ¬â¢t perform their functions as well because the decline in party membership (finish this off) The division created between Britainââ¬â¢s major political parties and the electorate in recent years has been enormous. An indication of this is seen at the turn out of elections. In ââ¬Ë2005, only 61.5% of voters cast their votes. This was the second worst turn out since 1918.ââ¬â¢ People donââ¬â¢t associate themselves with political parties as much as they used to a few years ago. It seems as though the decline in turnout is due political parties themselves. Citizens should be encouraged by parties to get involved with politics. There are other factors, which initiate people to vote such as the sociological characters; class, religion and gender. However, it should be the parties that should address these issues in the first place. If particular political parties speak of an issue, which reflects the ideology of many, people are more likely interested and are more likely to participate and vote. However, because voters look at the ideologies of parties and if parties do not represent their ideologies, they are likely not to vote. Thi... ...r peers. You have a prime minister who gets to appoint bishops of a creed he does not believe in or even respect. I could go on and on, but suffice to say, whatever conditions kept the U.K. floating no longer exist. Quite why a priest should think that declining political party memberships is a bad thing though I have no idea. I suppose being a U.K. resident, there is confusion in thinking that the state and the Church have the same ends. If anything we should be happy that people - freed from party affiliation - will be more eager to the Gospel of the Church. Sadly, however, decreased party affiliation has come with an all-encompassing state, and it's hard to see how we'll penetrate the wall of misinformation that all 3 major parties have managed to create through control of the school system, public broadcasters, and a multitude of publicly-funded lobbying groups.

Aggressive Behavior Essay - 1189 Words
Aggressive Behavior Aggression is a behavioral characteristic that refers to forceful actions or procedures (such a deliberate attack) with intentions to dominate or master. It tends to be hostile, injurious, or destructive, and is often motivated by frustration (The Merriam-Webster Dictionary, 1995). For an individual, aggressive behavior is considered understandable and normal under appropriate circumstances, but when it is frequent, intense, lasting, and pervasive, it is more likely to be a symptom of a mental disorder. Likewise, aggression between groups, can be in the form of healthy competition, but can become harmful when unfair or unjust disadvantage or frustration is perceived, leading to hostility (Brown, 1986).â⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Likewise, Oltmanns, Neale, Davison (1991) indicate that there is evidence of a genetically inheritable predisposition for psychopathy, possibly involving the autonomic nervous system, which is connected to emotion. This idea is based on studying psych opathsââ¬â¢ particular adeptness at ignoring stimuli. Research has also supported the theory that psychopaths fail to appreciate the emotional significance of an event or experience. This, along with unwillingness or inability to ââ¬Å"process or use the deep semantic meanings of language,â⬠may be causal in psychopathsââ¬â¢ apparently subtle form of thought disorder. This apparent lack of central organization of behavior and logic may be a factor in the aggressiveness of their behavior (Oltmanns, Neale, Davison, 1991). Furthermore, the family environment of psychopaths may contribute to their abnormal behavior. A lack of parental affection and severe parental rejection may cause influential adjustment problems. Inconsistency in discipline, and a failure of parents to teach children their responsibilities may additionally play a causal role in the development of psychopathy (Emery Oltmanns, 1998). Finally, avoidance learning may contribute to psychopathy. People suffering from this disorder seemingly feel no need to avoid the negative consequences of social misbehavior. Therefore, they may have fewShow MoreRelatedAggressive Behavior, Heredity and Environment Essays694 Words à |à 3 Pagesfriends ethniticy are an important component of their positive or negative behavior. Analysis Of Botticelli And Da Vinci - 909 Words
Aesthetics give an inside look at what someoneââ¬â¢s likes and dislikes are. They clue in on a personââ¬â¢s emotions and how those emotions influence things around them. I have come to recognize that I reflect my personal aesthetic into every piece of art I create. My aesthetic consists of clean lines, attention to detail, and smooth blending. When I look at a piece of art, I want to be able to look at it over and over and keep finding new little details each time. I want every stroke of a paintbrush to mean something, to have a purpose. Works by Botticelli and Da Vinci showcase what I look for in a work of art. Both artists changed the history of art with their abilities to capture a scene on a surface. The Renaissance was an intriguing period; it was the rebirth of society and a time of experimenting, which is why it is my favorite time period. Artwork from the Renaissance, especially works by Da Vinci and Botticelli, appeals the most to my aesthetic because of the smooth ble nding, the cleanliness of the piece, and the details. The Birth of Venus, is just one of the many mesmerizing works of art by Sandro Botticelli. Painted in 1486, the work of art currently resides at the Uffizi Gallery in Florence, Italy where it is appreciated for its beauty and contribution to fifteenth century Italian artistry. This beautiful work of art stands at approximately 172.5 x 278.5 centimeters, it is considered to be the first large-scale canvas created in the early Renaissance.
